An East Rand man who used a toy gun to rob an Ivory Park resident has been sentenced to 15 years in prison, police spokesperson Captain Richard Zuma said on Thursday.
Lebogang Tshau, 27, was found guilty of robbery by the Tembisa magistrate’s court on Wednesday.
He robbed a man of R60 in June last year.
The man, who was on the way home from church, was stopped by Tshau who pointed a gun at him and demanded his belongings.
Upon arrest, police determined that he had used a toy gun to threaten the man when he robbed him, said Zuma.
Ivory Park Station Commissioner, Director Vincent Leshabane, said that Tshau’s conviction sent a clear message to criminals that crime would not be tolerated. – Sapa
