Now I’m sort of suspicious of how these supposedly Islamist terrorists are able to be involved in being able to implement the attack in Mauritania. Mauritania is one of the few members of the Arab League which recognizes Israel’s right to exist and for that it has been attacked. The most suspectable groups involved would have to be the Armed Islamic Group which operates freely in Algeria and throughout Northern Africa and also its front group-Al-Qaeda Organization in the Islamic Maghreb. But I’m sort of suspicious of the Armed Islamic Group (GIA) in general as how it can manage to survive in Algeria or in other northern African states.
The GIA and its front groups have full extensive networks throughout northern Africa and that many of these groups have affiliation with the Muslim Brotherhood where Ayman al-Zawahiri who studied as a student of the group was involved in the assassination of Ansaw Sadat. These attacks on Mauritania seem to be a form of blackmail to have the targeted government to change its opinion about Israel and favor the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) and the groups it sponsors such as Hamas. But I wouldn’t trust the government immediately at all, as it still sides with Communist China where it has an alliance with Iran, Syria and other Middle Eastern nations who also sponsor the PLO and Hamas terror groups:
Al-Qaeda claims attack on Israel’s embassy in Mauritania: Al Jazeera

DUBAI (AFP) (151) The Al-Qaeda terror group has claimed an attack on the Israeli embassy in the Mauritanian capital Nouakchott, Al Jazeera television reported Sunday.
“Al-Qaeda claims the attack against the Israeli embassy buildings in Nouakchott,” the Qatar-based satellite channel announced on its screen without giving further details.
Three unidentified gunmen opened fire on the embassy Friday shortly after 2:00 am (0200 GMT), before fleeing as Mauritanian embassy guards immediately returned fire. No embassy staff were hurt but three French citizens were hit by stray bullets outside a nightclub a few metres (yards) from the embassy.
Together with Egypt and Jordan, Mauritania is only one of three Arab League nations with which Israel has full diplomatic relations.
Political pressure has however been increasing within the Islamic republic straddling the Maghreb and black sub-Saharan Africa, to sever the ties it established with the Jewish state in 1999.
