Transcript from UK House of Commons Defence Debate where Rhodesia was mentioned

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

[History lives on! You can never ignore history… A Rhodesian sent me this. Jan]

A transcript from a recent defence debate in the House of Commons.

The speaker is Ann Congleton – who is a star and an absolute thorn in the side of our part-time Minister of Defence

on matters of lack of and misuse of equipment:
… there is a tribute to one of the “most effective counter insurgency units of all time”. The reference is to a book entitled “The Saints: The Rhodesian Light Infantry” by Alexandre Binda, which should be required reading for all top brass, so that they can appreciate how the Rhodesians used their limited helicopter resources to devastating effect. There are plenty of helicopters on the market today that can be hired at one fifth of the cost of our own aircraft, so there really is no excuse for helicopter shortages. [Interruption.] I notice that Labour Members are amused by that statement. In all counter-insurgency situations we have complete control of the airspace, so why cannot we have total air surveillance on all key routes?

I would like to raise the issue of money and manpower. We constantly hear about not having enough money and that our forces are overstretched almost to breaking point, so let us take a few lessons from history. I refer again to the Rhodesian forces.

They had little money and equipment, due to sanctions, and very small numbers of men, yet they succeeded beyond all expectations. They used what they had wisely, implementing ideas from the bottom up. The only battle that they lost was the public relations battle.

The Rhodesian commented to me:
Things here in UK get more and more like a script from Monty Python – after IDS’s obituaries last week, the left-wing press have come out with a whole series of articles blaming him for the current state of Zimbabwe – apparently if he hadn’t declared UDI, Mugabe wouldn’t have come to power and thus Zimbabwe wouldn’t be in the state it is – and they believe it!!
