There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

The murder of University of Cape Town (UCT) professor Mike Larkin is mobilising the Rondebosch community into taking action against crime in the area.

Rondebosch police commissioner Superintendent Henry Hubbard confirmed on Thursday that two suspects had already been identified in connection with the professor’s killing, but declined to make any further comment because the investigation was “at a sensitive stage”.

Larkin, a respected commercial law professor, was mugged of his bag and then stabbed in Roslyn Road, where he lived.

‘The whole community is shocked by the professor’s death’

In the days since, the shock of his murder has galvanised the Rondebosch community and police into crime-fighting action. Additional security measures have been implemented in Roslyn Road and the surrounding streets.

The community policing forum (CPF) also plans to meet residents of that part of Rondebosch, especially “sector 18-29”, next year to discuss safety precautions.

This comes after some Roslyn Road residents complained that muggings in the area occurred as often as twice a week.

The Community Policing Forum met for its general meeting Thursday night, where Larkin’s death was the main topic.

CPF chairwoman Shirley Aldum stressed the importance of the CPF’s strengthening and maintaining efficient partnerships with the City of Cape Town, the police station and Rondebosch’s biggest private security company, ADT.

‘We definitely have more phone calls from that area and suggestions for police’

“The whole community is shocked by the professor’s death, but it is also bringing the community together … we can’t have a false sense of security because the police are out patrolling.

“Residents also have a role to play in their own safety by being aware and vigilant about crime,” she said.

Aldum also urged residents to report all crime, even if it was an attempted robbery.

“People may think it is small incidents, but how are the police supposed to tackle crime if they don’t know how bad the crime is?”

Thursday night, Hubbard identified muggings, housebreakings, smash-and-grab robberies and armed robberies as top priorities because these crimes were on the increase.

However, he said that since Larkin’s murder there had been a greater response and awareness from the Rondebosch community.

“We definitely have more phone calls from that area and suggestions for police,” he said.

Hubbard said there would be an increased focus in the part of Rondebosch below Riverside Mall, especially in the period of the festive season.

In a bid to control muggings the South African Police Service (SAPS) has set up a hut in a road adjoining Roslyn Road, from which police can do foot patrols.

There will also be increased bicycle, motorbike and vehicle patrols.

The patrols have already borne fruit this week with the arrest of a man who tried to mug two women near Roslyn Road.
