‘Why I killed little Steven’

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

He strangled six-year-old Steven Siebert because he didn’t want the child to identify him.

This is what Theunis Christiaan Olivier told the Cape High Court on Monday when he made an about-turn and pleaded guilty to murdering Steven in Plettenberg Bay in December 2005.

The Zimbabwean handyman, who two months ago claimed he was innocent, said he was sorry about what he had done and asked the court for mercy.

Olivier appeared uncomfortable in the dock on Monday, glancing at the judge occasionally during the proceedings. He held his hands in front of him and confirmed that he wanted to plead guilty to charges of kidnapping, indecent assault and murder.

‘I proceeded to kill him by strangling him’

His victim’s father, Thomas Siebert, sat to Olivier’s right. Later, he clasped his hands as if in prayer and stared at the ground as he listened to Olivier’s statement.

Olivier said that when he saw Steven playing outside a house shortly before 7pm in the Plettenberg Bay area on December 23 2005, he asked the child to go home with him. His intention was to “commit acts of a sexual nature with him”.

When they arrived there, he sexually molested Steven for 15 to 20 minutes.

“I proceeded to kill him by strangling him to death to prevent him from later identifying me,” Olivier stated.

He first hid Steven’s body in a cupboard, later concealing it in bushes next door to his house after he had showered and shaved his beard.

‘I am truly remorseful’

Olivier said he knew his actions were wrong and that he could be punished by the court.

“I am truly remorseful for the crimes I have committed and respectfully ask for mercy,” he added.

Olivier’s decision to admit to the crimes comes less than two months after he pleaded not guilty on the grounds of mental instability.

Olivier had been referred to Valkenberg Psychiatric Hospital in Cape Town for observation. But his counsel, Tobie Benade, told the court his client did not wish to hand in the report.

During the trial in George, a copy of a confession Olivier had made before a magistrate was also handed in. In the confession, Olivier said the decision to kill Steven was a difficult one.

But he added that he had to kill the boy to prevent him from testifying against him in court. He added that Steven “did not resist in any way”.

He could not explain why he had committed the offences and said he had cried “bitterly”.

He also wrote a letter to the boy’s parents, which was handed in. In the letter, he apologised for what he had done.

Justice Essa Moosa has asked the state and the defence to address him on how to proceed with the matter.

The case was due to continue on Tuesday morning.
