An 80-year-old farmer has been shot dead and his wife seriously wounded
during an attack on their Naboomspruit farm in the Northern Province.
Police say the couple was alone on their farm, Vorentoe, when they were
overpowered by two men. Christiaan van den Heever was shot in the back while
his wife, Martha, was seriously wounded.
The woman managed to call for help before losing consciousness.
The men, one of them believed to have been employed by the farmer earlier in
the week, ran away after stealing a shotgun.
