Moyo lashes out at SA Reserve Bank Governor

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

Jonathan Moyo, the Zimbabwean Information Minister, today accused Tito
Mboweni, the South
African Central Bank Governor, of uttering “flippant, ill-informed gibberish”
when he said last week that “the wheels have come off” in Zimbabwe.

Moyo, the director of Zimbabwe’s propaganda war and the government’s
onslaught against the press, denounced Mboweni’s remarks as “highly
sensational, irresponsible, dangerous and most unfortunate”.

Mboweni said in a public lecture that the lawlessness and the collapsing
economy in Zimbabwe were major causes of the decline of the South African
rand. “It is untenable when the highest office in that land seems to support
illegal land invasions, the occupation of land, beating up people, blood
flowing everywhere.”

Moyo responded: “Of all people, Mboweni should know better and be more
responsible as governor of South Africa’s reserve bank, not least because of
his dignity and the sensitivity of the position of his office which requires
him to make balanced remarks.”

The governor’s statement was “so flippant, ill-considered and ill-informed as
to be no different from the usual gibberish churned out by the all-too
familiar quarters whose agenda against Zimbabweans and their leadership is
now a public secret.”

Mugabe’s support of illegal land invasions termed ‘ludicrous’
Moyo said it was “ludicrous” to suggest President Robert Mugabe supported
illegal land invasions. Observers warn that Moyo’s remarks are expected to
worsen relations between Zimbabwe and its powerful southern neighbour, as
South Africa’s anxiety increases over investor reluctance to be involved in
the region, and the growing swarm of Zimbabweans fleeing over the southern
border to escape economic collapse and lawlessness.

Thabo Mbeki, the South African President, last month admitted that his
attempt at “quiet diplomacy” to persuade the 77-year-old dictator to restore
the rule of law had not worked. Moyo said there were “no illegal land
invasions in Zimbabwe and no beating up of people or blood flowing
everywhere”.

“Zimbabwe is a peaceful country with one of the lowest crime rates in the
world, especially with respect to homicide,” he said. “The security of life
and property in Zimbabwe is second to none in the region. Land reform is
being undertaken in terms of the constitution and the laws of Zimbabwe as a
matter of social justice.”

Fast-track land reform programme ruled illegal
The supreme court has repeatedly ruled that Mugabe’s so-called “fast-track
land reform programme” is illegal and has ordered police to remove about 20
000 ruling ZANU-PF squatters from about 2000 white-owned farms around the
country. The orders have been ignored, on Mugabe’s public urging.

Last month political violence claimed 11 lives in Zimbabwe, the highest since
the campaign of land invasions led by so-called guerrilla war veterans began
in February last year. The victims were all supporters of the opposition
Movement for Democratic Change or merely suspected of being supporters.

At least 28 farm workers and nine white farmers have been murdered since
February. The government accused the British government and white farmers of
organising the attacks. In the last week about 4000 farm workers have been
driven from their homes in the Wedza area 100km east of Harare by
ruling party militias. A fortnight ago Joseph Msika, the Zimbabwean
Vice-President, said: “Whites are not human beings.” – Sapa-DPA
