SA: Cape Town: Mountain muggings: There is no crisis

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

SA: Cape Town: Mountain muggings: There is no crisis

By John Yeld and Leila Samodien

Crisis? What crisis? That was the response of Community Safety MEC Leonard Ramatlakane after a meeting to discuss safety and security on Table Mountain.

The meeting on Thursday between senior police, the Table Mountain National Park and two representatives of recreational users came after at least 20 robberies and muggings were reported on the mountain this year alone.

In a statement afterwards, Ramatlakane said they had agreed to adopt an integrated approach to addressing security concerns on the mountain.

“This meeting unanimously agrees that there’s no crisis on Table Mountain,” he said.

But Greg Moseley, chairperson of the Mountain Club of South Africa and one of the two public representatives at the meeting, said the club did not agree with the statement that 20 muggings did not constitute a crisis.

“It was pointed out that this number of incidents occurred every day in Manenberg, Khayelitsha and similar areas.

“(But) Table Mountain is not only a World Heritage site and an international icon, but also generates a huge number of tourist dollars.” – Cape Argus
