[A friend of mine, formerly from the Rhodesian Special Branch sent me this note. It appears that even normal members of the MDC are controlled by the CIO. The MDC may now be so hobbled as to be almost useless.

MDC started off with great pomp and ceremony and there were times that I thought that they actually stood a chance. Sadly my hopes have faded – they lack any quality or dynamic leadership and are directionless! I still voice support for them because they are the only option and the only voice opposing Mugzy! But in all honesty I’ve lost faith in them – one of my former colleagues who was still serving in CIO boasted to me one day that “they were all in their pockets, they are now merely an extension of us”… and I believe him! Ronnie’s outfit have also been very active especially with the splinter faction, I would guess that most of them are in their pocket. So what hope is there and how does this bode for their future. Equally important what signal does this send us about the future of politics and democracy in SA? Is the world taking note, are they listening… do they even care?
