In 2006, criminals blew up 53 Bank ATMS. In the first portion of January 2007, they blew up another 3. About a week or so ago, a friend of mine in Meyerton reported that an ATM was blown up there too.

So to my knowledge, at this time, ATMS are being blown up like crazy – with no end in sight. At first they said the criminals were not getting much cash, but now I’m not so sure. Check out these eTV photos showing the kind of damage they do.

It is amazing that nobody has been killed or injured. They suspect the criminals are obtaining commercial explosives from the mines and are using them to blow up ATMS. They suspect “one syndicate” – but nobody really knows.
