[One of our regular readers sent me these photos and the commentary. He is heavily involved in combatting crime and he now believes that news about Cash-in-Transit heists is being suppressed. He might be right… Jan]

On another note, just missed a Cash-In-Transit heist this afternoon, got wind of it an hour afterwards from a neighbour coming home from work, it was 150 meters from my house! In a quiet residential area!

So off I go in the batmobile to get some pics for my archives and met up with all the usual loafers from the station. Station Commander, both 2 I/C’s and half the bloody station standing around gawking while the CSI guys were doing all the real police work.

Now remember at this point that I’ve worked with the local station’s various staff over the last fifteen years, everyone knows me from the Station commander down. (As a reservist, CPF Exco and now Sector Crime Forum).

So from outside the crime scene tape I take out my cellphone, switch on cam, then this really cocky new black Captain from our station tells me; “You can’t take pictures XXX”.

“Really?” I say, wanna bet captain? This is public property, I live here, plus I work with the police and this very public as you well know. See that man down there? He’s your superior officer, (the station commander), why don’t you run off now like the good man you are and ask him if I’m breaking any laws”.

“Besides, I see those people over there are also taking pics from their garden, maybe you should go bother them too. I can fully understand how letting this robbery go down and letting all the perps get away scott free would lead you to believe you should harass innocent residents in the area, reeeally I do!”

So sullenly he struts off to his boss, (sucker), I take my few pics and drive off to get more from the other side of the scene. By this time Captain Crimestop is busy looking for me where he’d last seen me, (they’re not that quick these uniformed bone-headed monkeys are they?), I’m now the other side taking the rest of my few pics.

Station Commander Senior Sup’t fat-arse, -now forewarned by Captain bonehead- waddles over from his gawking point and asks me why I’m taking pictures, “Easy Sup’, because I can, and you know it”. “Now now XXX, you really shouldn’t taunt my staff, you’re supposd to be working with us on Sector Crime Forum”.

“But I am Sup’ I am, think of it as training” I say. He laughed. I drove away chuckling. They’ll learn.

I’ll bet a pound to a pinch of salt this won’t be in the newspapers, any of them. Noticed how there’s been a clampdown on Cash-in-transit reporting lately. I Wonder why? Maybe they’re tooooo boring.
