I’ve been meaning to mention this for weeks now… the insane Health Dept which leaves a trail of DESTRUCTION whereever it goes… The Govt still has not stopped with its nonsense about reducing the prices which Pharmacies will charge for medicines. They want to reduce the dispensing fees to ridiculously uneconomical levels. This is typical communist/socialist price fixing and price meddling. And… what happens whenever you do this nonsense? You end up stuffing up free market capitalism… you make things more inefficient and you drive business into bankruptcy AND YOU STUFF UP THE SUPPLY FOR CUSTOMERS. This is one of those laws which I have *NOT* been looking forward to. Most of the pharmacies in S.Africa are independent operations… independent… stand alone businesses. They have studied the effects of the ANC’s insane meddling and they’ve said it will drive 50% of our pharmacies out of business. Now it will have an even worse effect in the rural areas where there are few pharmacies. It may result in people having to travel even longer distances to get their medicines! I shudder for our pharmacists. I wonder how many of them and their (mainly white) work force will go end up being unemployed? They may have to leave this country… They are talking of THOUSANDS of Pharmacies hitting the wall! Some of the bigger chains of stores like Clicks and Dischem… or stores which sell things other than medicine, but still have an in-house pharmacy… will be able to survive this. But I think it will make it much more difficult for people to get medicines. I seriously question whether there will be ANY real savings. Pharmacists have warned that many services they now do for FREE will no longer be available to us. So… I mourn for our pharmacies… and this horrific law which will hit next year. I think what the ANC is doing in this regard is downright sinful and evil – messing with medicines which are keeping people alive. The ANC just can’t stop buggering things up hey? Jan. |
