Shocker: Tony Leon of the DA to stand down! Why???

I was stunned to hear that Tony Leon, the leader of the Democratic Alliance and the official opposition has said he will stand down in May 2007. I am curious why Tony Leon has suddenly stood down. He is still very young to be standing down. According to eTV rumours are flying that Helen Zille, the Mayoress of Cape Town will take his place. But I’m wondering if something bigger isn’t afoot? I’m wondering if the DA isn’t going to opt for a black leader? Has anyone heard anything? Jan. |
