Hypothetical Military Exercise: What if Rhodesia fought to the last man?

Folks, I want to throw this one around for people to consider… a HYPOTHETICAL MENTAL MILITARY EXERCISE… On:- What would have happened if Rhodesia had not settled in 1979 and Mugabe had come to power? What if Rhodesia had fought “to the last man” (not really the last man because nobody does). What would the long term consequences have been? Think about it… rationally… Here are some pointers:- b) Whites were fleeing at 1,000(43)+ per month. How long would ANY whites have remained? c) Given the above, how long could whites have retained control of even ONE CITY in Rhodesia? (Given no assistance from S.Africa). Have a think about it… Its a fascinating military exercise. In my mind, Rhodesia was buckling militarily and economically bit by bit. BUT… consider then… that we start losing the guerilla war… how would the CONVENTIONAL WAR go??? This presents a most interesting military problem actually, and it highlights the tremendous difference between terrorist versus conventional warfare. The USA actually faces the same problem in Iraq. There are some fascinating conclusions one could draw. Its maybe worth a wargaming exercise one day. One could ask similar questions about South Africa. What would have happened if South Africa fought on and never unbanned the ANC? (With South Africa it becomes more complex since the whole world was openly against it). But these are worthwhile “What-if Historical exercises to ponder.” Please don’t email me with answers and suggestions.
