Help! Do Small Claims courts still exist? I have a problem…

Folks, I am having so much of a NIGHTMARE with my medical aid for my mom that I’m going to shut down and move to another one as soon as possible. But with bills of a few thousand Rand that I may lose, I am seriously thinking of taking the bastards to the Small Claims court if they won’t settle everything that they should. I have all the paperwork for these items. Its a drastic course of action I am toying with and I’m wondering if it could work. Can one take a business to a Small Claims court (if they still exist)? So if anyone has recent experience/knowledge of Small Claims courts, please drop me a line by email at: [email protected]. I would appreciate it. I seem to recall that the maximum you used to claim was R2,500. Is this still so, or has the amount gone up? Jan |
