[ZAPIRO is good, but sometimes he outdoes himself. This is one of his greatest strokes of genius. The story behind this cartoon is as follows. Many Members of Parliament, most in the ANC (no surprise there!) took part in the Travelgate scam. They abused their travel allowances and stole many millions in public funds. And they got off so lightly its hardly believable. They got very minor slaps on the wrist. Some of them got years in which to pay back the money they stole – without interest! The vast majority of them even retained their seats in parliament. The story is told by ZAPIRO below. Read the small print about their “crooked little house” – the houses of Parliament!
