Zimbabwe’s Grain Police & Horrific Farming Destruction

[A friend of mine who is very much in touch with Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector sent me the following information. Jan]

45% of Zimbabwe’s wildlife has been decimated since 2000

It goes on: 85% of Zimbabwe’s Stud cattle have been slaughtered since 2000 – it took 100 years to build one of the finest beef herds in Africa. It only took a few years for zanupf to destroy it.

Oh, 75% of the dairy herd is gone – mainly Friesians – hence milk is also as scarce as a clean glass of water

Land preparation for the new season is well behind and unlikely to catch up as severe fuel shortages and lack of foreign currency for spare parts has seriously impeded progress. Even if land prep had been carried out, there are serious shortages of seed, fertiliser and chemicals and distribution of the same is still a serious problem. To all accounts, the coming season is set to be another disaster.

Last season was one of the best on record. zanpf, yet again, cried out that there would be a bumper harvest but so far, it is a bumper harvest of lies. The requirement to hundred of thousands of tonnes more that actual production. So far, the grain Marketing board has received less than 400,000 tonnes of grain from last season’s harvest. Like most communist regimes, Zimbabwe is operating “Grain Police” who have roadblocks across the length and breadth of the country to confiscate grain from individuals who try to sell their crops on the free (black) market. Zimbabwe will have another winter of starvationwhere rural people will be forced to eat rats, roots and leaves to survive. The situation is now so bad that this week the regime has opened up space for NGO’s to distribute international food-aid as the regime is unable to fund the feeding of such large numbers of people.
