Using your Cell Phone as a TV/Video Remote?

[Some months ago I had a chat to a S.African man whose business is the selling of TV remotes. He came up with the idea of using your cell phone as a TV/Video remote. I don’t know if this has been done before. He claimed it had not been done. The theory, as I understood it, is that you actually download the software for the appropriate TV remote on to your cell phone. He told me his site would be up by July this year. He said it was a service he would sell worldwide. I thought I’d check in. It seems to be set up for WAP enabled cell phones.
