How P.W. Botha helped the Israelis in the 6-day war

[In July 2006, Mrs Barbara Botha told me the following story over the telephone. She still confirmed some of the details with PW Botha who was nearby. Barbara and I were discussing the Israeli Jews when she remarked that PW had helped the Israelis during the war. According to her, some time prior to the war, a young Israeli Defence Force Officer appeared at Mr PW Bothas office, uninvited. Mr Botha was the Minister of Defence at that time. He asked to see Mr Botha and was let in. With typical Jewish chutzpah he said to Mr Botha, You have 1000Lb bombs and we want them! Mr Botha asked him how they were going get the bombs back to Israel. The Israeli Officer said that their ship was already waiting in Durban harbour. Mr Botha then phoned Mr Vorster and asked him if he could give the bombs to the Israelis. Vorster agreed. So the South Africans then gave the Israelis all their 500Lb-1000Lb bombs, which were used by the Israeli Air Force only weeks later during the 6 day war.
