The following series of photos definitely come from Johannesburg. The buildings on the skyline are easily recognisable. I don’t know who took these photos, but they have been doing the rounds by email among incredulous South Africans. The caption accompanying it is: “The photos look real, the problem I have is there are no number plates and there is no number on the vehicle, the police cars always have some identification number on the sides and rear
I think it is for some kind of advert or promotion YOUR TAX MONEY AT WORK… THIS WAS TAKEN ON THE JHB HIGHWAY!”
Yes, this photo was taken on the M1 highway and in downtown Johannesburg. The question is: What is this? Apparently, the Police complain they don’t have money for cars, but according to the accompanying blurb, a Humvee like this costs a staggering R1.4 million! It is suggested by the blurb that this is some kind of promotion – but I’ve not seen anything further. It seems to be a genuine Police vehicle because it has all the genuine South African Police markings!
Personally, I wish they’d spend this money on catching real criminals or in building a gallows, which I think we need so badly here. Jan |
