[The other day I watched a program on TV where they spoke about our rights under the new gun laws. I saw them interview a man named: Martin Hood, of the South African Gun Owners association.

I was NOT impressed with the man’s meek attitude.

A number of highly incense callers phoned in to say that they thought all the legal requirements dealing with an attack were unreasonable. They did not like the manner in which, in a split second, a victim could end up becoming a criminal.

For example, if someone comes to kill you… firstly, you can only use force if you have valid reason to believe that your life or the lives of those around you are in danger. You cannot for example, shoot at a man just because he is illegally in your property or in your house. You are not allowed to use deadly force to protect your property.

If someone actually attacks you then you may only use enough force to stop the attack. So if, for example, you hit him and he stops attacking you… say he falls down… then you must stop. If you kick him now… then YOU will be put on trial for ASSAULT!!

But as people pointed out – you are in a dangerous situation where you only have split seconds to react – and you are expected to make all these complex and unreasonable decisions in that time.

Anyhow… I later heard, via the grapevine, that the S.African Gun Owner’s association has lost probably about 25,000 members due to their ass-kissing attitude.

It is important not to confuse SA Gun Owners Association with the new GOSA – Gun Owners of S.Africa who are affiliated to Larry Pratt’s Gun Owners of America. GOSA are a completely different type of crowd. They speak their mind – and that, no doubt, is why they were not invited on to that TV program.

But keep a watch out for GOSA, and please support them – they will be out there really FIGHTING for our rights – and you can expect the Govt to try to ignore/side-line them as much as possible. Jan]
