I noted his comments below though. Take note of his comments about S.Africa, and his view that S.Africa is now “where Zimbabwe was in the late 1980’s.” Its an interesting commentary. As I have said for a long time, MOST WHITES from Rhodesia/Zimbabwe all regard a S.Africa under ANC rule with skepticism. It is not a hard sell, to convince whites from there that S.Africa is also a sinking ship. It is interesting to see how much time different people estimate this country has left.

I’d agree with the assessment of the Rhodesian. My only caveat would be that we need to watch the S.African Communist Party and Jacob Zuma. They might help to shorten the remaining days this country has. If they have their way, this country could be on the rubbish heap of history within 10 years.

I have never commented about the Rhodesian Air Force. But if one studies the Rhodesian Air Force’s evolution during the war there, you will see something extremely bizarre – extremely strange. There are some extremely important military lessons to learn from that, but I don’t want to run around advertising what they were. But they have a bearing on the use of air power in the event of a civil war in Zimbabwe.

For those people who are interested in military history, and are concerned about our problems and about future wars: Let me suggest that you spend a good amount of time reading books and studying the wars which have been fought here in Southern Africa in the last 50 years. For the person with a keen eye – there are some stunning military lessons which can be learned.

Maybe my perception that Mugabe can be overthrown lies in my own mind, merely because I have been thinking about these things for a long time. If those who oppose Mugabe would sit and study history, and learn lessons, then they would see the pointers to victory… there in books written by the military people who fought those wars.

I don’t care that Mugabe won in Mozambique nor that he did well in the DRC. His army has many things wanting in it. It can be defeated – soundly. And with each passing day, the chances of his defeat increase. Too bad, nobody acts to take him down. Jan]
