[Here is a brilliant analysis by Prof Hughes and Cliff Saunders. I feel EXACTLY THE SAME WAY.

Many people have told me that the Democratic Alliance, the official opposition in parliament will save us whites. To be frank, I think NOT. They can achieve minor things… but they will not change the ultimate destiny of the whites in this country, nor the blacks here either.

Firstly, the DA will never rule this country while the ANC is around. They thought they could. At one time they believed they could, but I think now they agree they can’t. The blacks will never vote en masse for people who originally were white liberals.

Secondly, I have said many times that although Tony Leon talks sense, and speaks with energy, I don’t believe he is a real fighter. Yes, you heard me correctly. When the brown stuff hits the fan in this country, Tony Leon will be running like crazy for cover – and so will virtually all the senior leadership of the DA. I really do not believe that the DA is made of stern enough stuff to stand up to the ANC and fight them. The ANC will walk over them. So when I look to the future and our Zimbabwe-like situation which is coming, I see the DA being every bit as pathetic and toothless as the MDC in Zim. The ANC will walk over Tony Leon and the DA like Mugabe walks over Tsvangirai and the MDC. The ANC will steal elections when it needs to, and change the rules when it suits them. It is doing that already.

Thirdly, I have said too that my view at times is that to even vote or take part in our elections is to lend credibility to a system which NOT democratic. I see that Cliff puts forward a similar type of suggestion – that people are lending credibility by going along with this ANC-dominated joke. My view is simply that we should not co-operate with the ANC. We must forget working with them, talking to them, and going along with their plans. Our minds should be on OUR PLANS for OUR SURVIVAL.

The DA will not save white people in this country. Of that you can rest assured. It is nice to have them around though. They make good speeches. They talk sense in a country where non-sense is norm! They dig up the facts and truth about ANC corruption, lies, etc. All in all, they do a good counter-propaganda job on the ANC. And that is the greatest contribution they make to this country. But that alone will not win the struggle. They just don’t have the stern stuff to defeat the ANC.

When the ANC wants to, it will ride rough shod over all these small political parties. And that is when I would rather turn to people like the Freedom Front Plus who I think have got far bigger balls than the DA will ever have. What we need, is a new breed of leadership for Whites which is TOUGH, and which can face the ANC eyeball to eyeball without flinching. Jan]

Here is a letter which Cliff sent to The Star Newspaper.

Dear Sir/Ms
It has taken WATCHWORD columnist Prof. Geoff Hughes to succinctly state a harsh truth which opposition parties and other organisations that have this country’s interests at heart would do well to note — and find ways and means of rectifying a deplorable and dangerous situation. Writing on 11 May under the headline “Opposition is but a decoration” Hughes states: “The argument can be advanced that opposition is ultimately a waste of time when the ruling party has such an overwhelming majority that it can achieve all its ends by simple recourse to the vote. Parliament is then reduced to a mere talking shop and opposition simply lends respectability to the process.” That, Prof. Hughes, deserves a standing ovation!

It’s sad to say, but mostly our opposition parties (well meaning though they may be!) fluctuate between the pompous and the pathetic: They’re pompous in an attempt to conceal their ineffectiveness and pathetic when they can no longer hide how helpless they are in the face of the bullying contempt of an all-powerful ANC government. So what do you do when you’re too small and helpless to be effective? You find allies!
And where did the ANC find allies during the apartheid era? Its representatives lobbied tirelessly and successfully in virtually every capital of the world — and eventually persuaded the United Nations to declare apartheid a “crime against humanity.” Those concerned about what is happening in this country today should get together and follow that ANC example. Many complaints can be lodged, but the most effective would be the absolute proof that now exists that “reverse racism” via destructive affirmative action policies is a growing threat to the development and stability of this country.

Certainly, it is silly to hope that the United Nations will condemn these alarming trends (double standards are too firmly entrenched) but the mere fact that an organised grouping of sensible and reputable parties and other organisations is taking the trouble to approach the world body, will be significant enough to put the spotlight on developments in South Africa. It must not be a single visit to the UN; it must be a relentless and on-going campaign — identical to the one the ANC successfully pursued.

Is there anyone naive enough to believe that things will improve after Thabo Mbeki is replaced as president? Of course not. Discrimination against whites, coloureds (and how long will our thriving Indian community be able to escape the attention of the envious black elite and the poverty stricken masses?) will become harsher and more entrenched. Just put one question to the international community: Why are hundreds of thousands of highly skilled South Africans with the “wrong” skin-colour fleeing this country in search of work? They are abandoning family, friends, indeed the country they love, because they are desperate and helpless in the face of racist affirmative action policies!
That African “bread basket” Zimbabwe also thrived for a while when white rule was terminated. Then Robert Mugabe turned against the whites. We see the result.

I know there are many black people in this country who are not racists, who know that we were promised a non-racist democracy after the 1994 general election and who realise that that is the formula for success. They may be too cautious or afraid to speak out, but definitely they will welcome any campaign to stop the racist rot that ignores merit and that is now eating away at this Rainbow nation until the policies eventually spell despair for all — no matter what the colour of your skin. Right now a Zimbabwean type tragedy is looming for South Africa. The good people of this country cannot and must not allow it to become a harsh reality.

The wake-up call is for now! Later will be too late!
