A movie is currently being filmed in the South African township Khayelitsha. It is called: “The Son of Man”. The release date has not been set. It is set in the ficticious African country of Judea! It tells the story of a black Jesus who wears jeans. According to a magazine article about the movie it symbolises Africa’s “rise from the ashes of colonialism!” Pardon me while I hoot with laughter. It reads: “[Jesus’s] … rise from the dead becomes symbolic of Africa’s rise from the ashes of colonialism and its deliverance from a group of dictators.” It appears they’re trying to jump on the “Passion of Christ” bandwagon. I can’t help wondering if the ANC has a secret hand in the making of this?
