[I received these comments from a reader in Namibia. It is so nice to hear from someone in Namibia because they also have their own problems there too, and I sympathise with their situation too – which is no different to ours.

With regard to the English, I see our history from many angles. I know that in the past there were stresses between all sides. Rhodesians fought the Boers… I was born a Rhodesian but my parents were what you might call “expatriate Afrikaners” living in Rhodesia.

So I see the different sides of the coin. But I am trying to foster, in my own small way, tolerance and understanding between all White people in Africa because our enemies don’t see us as: English-Whites, and Afrikaans-Whites. They see us as WHITE PEOPLE… and they want us GONE and DESTROYED. They see a white skin and they want your land, job, wife/girlfriend, etc.

There are times I’m not against the British or the Germans. But deeper down I feel see the logic of Afrikaner Self Determination and also that of the Rhodesians. In the end, we are no different to the White English-speaking people who created what is now America. They too wanted to rule themselves. They managed to get their independence. We failed because our numbers were too small. But in the end, I believe we must strive for it.

I do agree, that the British definitely set out to destroy Boer power. The Anglo-Boer war, Dr Jordaan refers to Milner’s war… was all about destroying Boer power before the Boers became too strong. There is no doubt about that. Milner wanted war too… because… with the discovery of Gold, and the Transvaal buying arms from Germany, the Transvaal was already the strongest military power in Southern Africa. And the Transvalers were also very expansive. They wanted to increase the size of their territory (not that it really affected Britain). But Milner saw that if the Boers were left alone they would become very difficult to defeat later – so he wished for war sooner. So one must also accept that Milner, strategically, saw the reality, and he thought it was in British interests to destroy the Boers. The British didn’t want competition!! And that worked in the favour of the Blacks.

But Britain is no longer a factor in Africa, and we Whites are still around. So my simplistic aim is to try to get us all to rather find common ground and to stick together. We might not agree about everything, but our common ground is greater than our difference. At our root, we all originate from Europe and we inherited the same culture and religion. In the end, I think the various White tribes of Africa need to stick together because… they’re out to screw all of us!!

And sometimes, if one looks closer, one can see that some of our common points are greater than our differences. Take the Boers striving for self determination and the Rhodesians: Both fought bitter wars with all their hearts, for self determination. Both lost, though they tried with everything they had.

A multicultural South Africa was forced on the Boers, and for 48 years, they even took it over and controlled it. If the British had left the Boers alone in their two Republics, then maybe it would have been better for everyone?

But such is history, and we must accept the past for what it was. And squabbling over it won’t change anything. However, the FUTURE is another matter. There is nothing stopping us from standing side by side in the future. I believe the small things are to be ignored and overlooked and we must focus on the bigger things… the fact that we are on the menu, and the masses want to eat us. We Whites must realise that neither England, nor America is out to save us. We must save ourselves. We must work together and find new friends. And therein, we each have something to offer. The Boers have their “family ties” with the Dutch and Belgians; the Rhodesians with the British and the Namibians with the Germans. We have much to gain by working together. The history is interesting, and exciting, and we can debate the points, but I hope, that in the future we would rather just help each other out.

I see that you refer to the “Boer War” with the best of intentions. My forefathers named the wars after the enemy they fought – (eg Die Kafferoorloe)

Although you are English speaking I know your heart lies with the Boere and you see the English Colonialists and their controllers as the enemy. Many English speaking people realise who the evil force was(is) using the English to rob the Boere of their legacy.

You should rather refer to the English War. Or if you want to be objective: The Anglo Boer War. Talking about the Boer War means you fought against them.

Few Afrikaners knows this but every Boer does.
