Did a Russian transport plane damage the Cape Town runway?

[As I mentioned earlier, there was talk that the damage on the Cape Town runway was caused by a transport plane. The airports authorities denied this. But a friend who used to be a fighter pilot in the South African Airforce, told me that one of his buddies, who flies Boeing 747’s sent him an SMS from Cape Town airport. The pilot said that a one of these enormous Russian transport planes (apparently carrying a yatch!) landed on the runway and damaged an 8 metre section of the runway!! If anyone comes across more info on the incident I would be most interested. Jan] |
