[Mugabe is such a lying piece of scum. He gets away with everything doesn”t he? … and that includes murder. All this talk of building new houses – is complete rubbish. Its just slick propaganda. All the evidence points to deliberate SMASHING and destroying the homes and property of those who opposed him. Black people had their homes smashed before their very eyes, complete with their possessions inside before they knew what was happening. This despicable “clean up” was in reality a military operation – and according to news reports – the old Marxist piece of trash is still busy with it even now. Honestly – I really think I”m not asking for much when I say, there should be a war against this despicably evil man who flaunts every rule known to man and gets away with it – all the time. Jan] Sirte, Libya – Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe denied on Tuesday that his crackdown on illegal shantytowns had made hundreds of thousands of people homeless. “There is no demolition campaign. It”s a clean-up operation and that”s what all countries do,” he said in brief remarks to reporters at an African Union (AU) summit in Libya. Western countries have been highly critical of Zimbabwe”s “Operation Restore Order” – a six-week police blitz which is estimated to have made 300 000 people homeless. But Mugabe”s government says the clean-up campaign is aimed at rooting out black market trading and other criminal activity in poor urban areas. Asked by a journalist about reports that “hundreds of thousands” of people had been made homeless by the campaign, he replied: “Where are they? We don”t know about those. It”s just nonsense.” European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso has said that Africa must stand with the rest of the world in condemning the crackdown, AU officials last week rejected calls from non-governmental organisations to intervene in Zimbabwe, saying the crackdown was an internal affair. Zimbabwe has not been on the agenda of the half-yearly gathering of heads of state and government of the 53-member AU. British Prime Minister Tony Blair has called for the United Nations Security Council to debate the housing crackdown and what it says are wider human rights abuses after a visiting top UN official reports back.
