S.Africa: Have you noticed the many married couples in high ANC positions?

[The new Vice President of S.Africa is a Black woman. But how many of you have noticed that she is a Black woman, married to none other than the head of the NPA (National Prosecuting Authority) – Mr Ngcuka. This is the same Ngcuka who caused outrage months ago when he said there was a prima facie case against Zuma… and now, his wife is the Vice President. But have you noticed how many married couples hold high offices in the ANC? There have also been instances where ANC office holders are in Government at some level… and their spouses then get lucrative consulting contracts elsewhere. I have never sat down and actually made a list of these, but I am struck by this. We all know that former Vice President Zuma”s former wife, also happens to be the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Doesn”t it strike anyone as strange that in a country of 44 million people, that we have so many married (or formerly married) couples sitting in one political party? I don”t think you will find anything like it anywhere in the world. Now if that doesn”t smell like a bit of old “corruption” and “I”ll scratch your back if you scratch mine” then I don”t know. There seems to be a lot of “let”s keep it in the family” going on in the ANC. Jan] |
