A 2O-year-old man was arrested for the murder of a 24-year-old woman in Bethlehem on Saturday, Free State police said.
Constable Mmako Mophiring said the naked body of Sibongile Jane Mgeda was found by police sniffer dogs at a park in Pretorious Kloof on Saturday.
Mgeda was reported missing on Friday after she did not come back home from work. She did not answer sms’s and her cellphone was on voicemail.
Mophiriri said Mgeda worked for the arrested man’s uncle as a domestic helper.
“It is further alleged that the man was seen by some of the neighbours pulling a huge bag from the house walking on the street,” Mophiriri said.
“He was asked on whereabouts of their domestic worker but denied seeing her on that day.”
The bag that the man was carrying was found with blood stains at his home.
Mophiriri said a postmortem would be conducted to determine the cause of Mgeda’s death.
The man was expected to appear in the Bethlehem magistrate’s court on Monday. – Sapa
