S.Africa: A White farmer to go on trial for murder?

Rustenburg – A game farmer and his son who are accused of killing, burning and burying two men, will be tried in the high court. The 54-year-old farmer and his 16-year-old son are accused of killing two men from Ramokokastad near Mogwase in the North West. Morris Sello Morua, 36, and Zacharia Leso, 35, left their village over the Easter weekend of April last year to look after cattle and at the Ditshweng cattle post and to go hunting. They were travelling in a donkey cart and had four dogs with them. They were never seen alive again. A few days later, two of the dogs returned home and police found the donkey cart abandoned in the veld, along with an empty cartridge and a 9mm magazine that contained one bullet. Days later the farmer and his son were arrested after the son was allegedly found with a cellphone belonging to one of the victims. The boy was arrested at his school in Thabazimbi. North West police spokesperson Pieter du Plessis said forensic tests found that ash on the accuseds’ farm were of human origin. The accused will appear in the high court on June 20. In the meantime, the father is out on bail of R30 000 and his son’s bail is R10 000. Neither can be identified as the son is a minor. Edited by Elmarie Jack Source: News24.Com |
