[These two incidents seem to be black-on-black incidents. Disgusting stuff. Jan] Piet Retief – A 17-year-old girl is still struggling to speak and walk after being repeatedly raped and throttled in Mpumalanga on Monday night. She is recovering in hospital and has to write down her answers when police question her, said Eastern Highveld police spokesperson Captain Abie Khoabane on Wednesday. “She was walking home from a visiting a friend in Piet Retief when a strange man dragged her into the veld and raped her throughout the night,” said Khoabane. “He then tried to strangle her and left her when he thought she was dead.” The girl regained consciousness the next morning and crawled to the nearest road, where a passing motorist covered her with his jacket and took her to hospital before phoning the police. According to the medical report, the girl had bruises all over her body, indicating she was badly beaten. Police have opened a rape and attempted murder case but have no suspects yet. Screaming and biting In a separate incident, a nine-year-old girl escaped being raped by screaming and biting her attacker. The girl, from Nthorwane village near Greylingstad, was playing with friends when a neighbour called her to his house, took her to his bedroom and started kissing and fondling her. He offered her R1, but she screamed and bit him, alerting passers-by. “They called out to ask what was wrong with the child, and the suspect escaped out a back window,” said Khoabane.
