S.Africa: The worst storm ever in KwaZuluNatal

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

S.Africa: The worst storm ever in KwaZuluNatal

[And here on South Africa’s east coast… another heck of a storm, which some say is the worst they have ever seen. Jan]

Four people were killed and thousands were left homeless in Ndwedwe, near Tongaat in KwaZulu-Natal, when hail storms and flash floods struck the area.

The floods on Tuesday night have led to an appeal from the minister of traditional affairs, Mike Mabuyakhulu, to the private sector and welfare organisations for help with rebuilding.

Mabuyakhulu visited the area on Wednesday to assess the damage that was caused by the storm, which residents said was the worst they had ever seen.

‘We’re not sure how many people will need food, but we are doing all that we can’
Ndwedwe Mayor Nicholas Vilakazi, said he could not believe the extent of the damage and gave an assurance that his municipality would do everything in its power to ensure that food and shelter was provided for the storm victims.

He said: “The weather changed dramatically – there was sun one minute and in only a short period of time the storm had caused severe damage.

“Tents, blankets and food are being distributed. We’re not sure how many people will need food, but we are doing all that we can. I just want to let the people know that the municipal offices are open for them.”

According to Mabuyakhulu, 25 natural disasters have struck KZN between December 17 and January 5, and R19,3-million has been spent on rebuilding houses that have been damaged.

“At the moment we are gathering information, but there is no doubt that this storm is the severest of them all. I send out my condolences to the families of those who passed away, and those injured and misplaced.”

He said he was also in talks with the department of health to ensure that medical supplies would be sent to the area, that the department of social welfare would send food parcels and the transport department would send an inspection team to look at the roads so they could be re-opened as soon as possible.

“I will formally approach the minister of local government, Sydney Mufamadi, to declare the area a national disaster area.

“I am making an urgent plea to the private sector and individuals to help where they can.”

Ntombifikile Goqo, from eMalengeni, whose house and vegetable garden were destroyed, said she did not know what she was going to do.

“The winds just blew everything away. My mealies are gone and my house is a mess. I don’t know what I will do for food because most of it is rotten or has been washed away.

“I just hope that we get help soon because we can’t live like this. We only have one house to stay in at the moment. My kids have bruises all over their bodies. It was a terrible storm.”
