[Isn’t this ridiculous? The new Govt can’t run its own cities, yet Whites from the other side of the world have to come and bail them out. Note the comment below: “Officials will (also) learn how to do their jobs well…” – which bespeaks of incompetance and corruption. What goes unsaid, is that the Whites in the past ran these same Municipalities much more efficiently, with a fraction of the funds and were never bankrupt. The ANC Govt get so much in taxes – much more than the previous Govt ever took – and yet, between: incompetance, theft and wastage… they can’t manage to balance their books. Jan] Municipalities battling with revenue and performance problems are to get a R24-million boost from the United States. The US Agency for International Development (USAID) said on Monday that 23 local authorities would benefit from the programme. It was aimed at improving municipal performance and increasing revenue, said acting USAID director Denise Rollins in a statement in Johannesburg. “Officials will (also) learn how to do their jobs well, earning greater respect and support from local people.” The programme would get under way without delay, she said.
