S.Africa: Police probe mysterious death of Italian couple

Cape Town – Police have started an inquest into the mysterious death of a Table View couple. Gino Marchesi, 14, tried in vain on Monday morning to wake his dad, Benito Marchesi, 38, and his stepmother, Fatima, 27, said police superintendent Wiliam Reid on Friday. He eventually called his grandparents, who lived in Three Anchor Bay. Police found the dead couple in their bed. A post-mortem was done, but the result has not been made known yet. The couple’s death came as a big shock to the Italian community of Cape Town, said a family member. Marchesi celebrated his birthday with family and friends at the weekend. On Sunday, he said he was not feeling well, and didn’t attend a family dinner. There was apparently no sign of forced entry to the house, and police didn’t suspect foul play.
