Cape Town: Racial Black/Brown tensions – More blood could flow

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

Cape Town: Racial Black/Brown tensions – More blood could flow

[The Coloured (brown) people are also often Muslims. Jan]

Cape Town – Racial tension, made worse by the housing shortage, has been blamed for the death of a 15-year-old boy in Athlone.

Marewaan Blankenberg, 15, a Grade 9 pupil at Ned Doman High School, died after being stabbed with a knife in an apparent clash between Bokmakierie and Joe Slovo pupils.

It came on the heels of the occupation of Spes Bona hostel in Athlone by residents of Bokmakierie to prevent fire victims from Joe Slovo squatter camp in Langa being moved into the hostel.

Many of the those who moved into the hostel live in hovels in backyards and are upset because of the preferential treatment given to the fire victims.

Marewaan was buried on Friday according to Muslim rites from the home of his grandmother, Faiza Blankenberg, in Bokmakierie.

Residents said his death was the result of the tension created by the government’s intention to accommodate the people from Joe Slovo in the community.

They warned that more blood could flow.

Western Cape education minister Cameron Dugmore visited Marewaan’s family and appealed to the community to remain calm in view of the allegations of racial tension.

Police were deployed at the school on Friday where a group of parents had gathered.

Western Cape deputy director-general of education John Lyners warned parents not to take the law into their own hands.

He was afraid Joe Slovo pupils might be attacked by Bokmakierie residents.

He gave parents the assurance that the department would investigate the allegations that teachers did not try to defuse the lingering racial tension.

Marewaan’s classmates said one of those who had attacked him came to their class on Wednesday to tell the pupils to keep quiet.

Marewaan intervened when the boy allegedly slapped one of his classmates in the face.

Tharwa Dollie, a Grade 12 pupil, claimed the two groups had thrown bricks at each other in Bolton Street after school.

It was claimed three boys had held Marewaan and he was hit and kicked.

He was allegedly stabbed several times.

A pupil said: “He collapsed and we carried him to the lawn of a house in Denchworth Street.

“He bled to death after about half an hour while we waited in vain for an ambulance.”

Captain William Reid of the police said five pupils aged between 15 and 19 were arrested.

According to Dugmore, they have appeared in Athlone magistrate’s court.

Shahieda Klassiem said on Friday she was afraid to send her daughter to school and was planning to enrol her at a different school.

A similar incident is believed to have taken place at the school last year, but the pupil apparently involved was not suspended.

Upset parents are now demanding answers.
