Two automated teller machines (ATMs) were blown up in Mpumalanga on Thursday, police said.
Captain Leonard Hlathi said commercial explosives were used.
A Standard Bank ATM at a Total Garage in Dwarsloop, near Bushbuckridge, was blown up at 2.35am, he said.
The ATM exploded seconds after a man had told a garage employee it was burning.
A black Toyota Corolla seen parked next to the ATM sped off shortly before the blast.
An hour later, another Standard Bank ATM was bombed in KwaMhlushwa, Tonga, near Komatipoort.
“No money was taken from either of the ATMs bombed,” said Hlathi.
Five ATMs have been blown up in Mpumalanga this year, he said. – Sapa
