STOCKHOLM – Once again, tons of material…and as usual, I hardly know where to begin. I feel like shouting out headlines and running off real quick in the other direction. OK, I’ll compromise. I’ll shout one or two headlines and run off and tell you about the more interesting stories from the pile I have before me.

“43 children raped in SA every day”

(and 700 murdered last year, but we won’t go there. I did say I was just gonna yell out a headline…)

But speaking of the above,

A 16-month old wee one has just had to have some reconstructive surgery after she was taken from her homeless parents’ sleeping spot under the N1 bridge near Maitland (Cape Town) and raped. She was grabbed at some point during Saturday night while everyone was sleeping and her mother noticed her missing at about 5am on Sunday morning. After the police were contacted, they conducted a search and found her at about 10:30am in a Brooklyn vacant plot.

Outside Mount Fletcher, in the Eastern Cape, a 16-year old boy was arrested for raping a 2-year old girl on Saturday afternoon. Police spokesperson Captain Nompumelelo Makijela said that the girl was taken to the Tailor Dequest Hospital in Mount Fletcher, but Mount Fletcher has no district surgeon and the residing doctor couldn’t handle rape cases, so she was flown by helicopter to the Matatiele hospital (70km away). But apparently, the doctor refused to examine the girl as he was “sick and tired of rape cases”. Allegedly. The Health Dept. is looking into the allegations and statements are being taken from the nurses and doctor. And what a strange fucking quote…the original news report carries a cluck of outrage by Eastern Cape health department spokesperson Sizwe Kupelo, who said (and I quote directly), “The child is our main concern at the moment. This is terrible and it happened during the 16 days of activism against women and children.”

Thanks, dude. I now have coffee on my crotch.

And now for another headline cry: “SA is becoming another Thailand, warns NGO” (something about how SA is becoming like Thailand with the child-sex thing.)

Feedback time. Remember the Dutch student who got offed around New Year’s? Well, the guy accused of murdering her, Ferdinandt Mostert, is trying to bullshit the court by saying that he only shot her because she wouldn’t stop screaming when he was trying to shoot an antelope. This asshole is for sure a Sorry Bastard because he think he’s smarter than forensics and incriminating evidence, such as the note of thanks he gave to the staff at Lulu’s Placein Swellendam (where he and Konings had stayed) where he said “watch the local newspaper”. Anyway, he’s apologized to her parents for killing her in a letter where he stated that he couldn’t forgive himself for what he’d done blah blah blah, “You have lost a wonderful child and I lost a dear friend. Your loss is far greater than mine. I have done something wrong and will be punished for it.” (thank you Cape Times)

Oh…and the bodies found in the Centurion drainpipe? The police are in a spot of hot water (not unlike my crotch a few minutes ago) after it has become known that they allegedly questioned one of the suspects, Shen Lin, without informing his lawyer. Looks like the lawyer wanted to use this as a device to have the case thrown out of court, but it doesn’t look like the ruse worked. If anything, it might only result in a couple of rapped knuckles. Lin and his co-accused Yanbo Zang, Jain-Sen Bai and Siyuan Liu are still wrapped up in court sessions. Will keep you posted.

On the weekend a Pinetown couple was found dead in their apartment following a domestic disturbance. Relatives became worried after their phone calls went unanswered, and one of them went around to investigate. Brought a cop for backup. They found the apartment unlocked, and upon entering, found the man hanging from the door frame with a belt around his neck. The woman, strangled at his feet.

A 14-year old girl from the Wembezi township near Estcourt has been declared fit to stand trial for the murder of her 4-year old sister. The little girl was found 2 days after her disappearance behind their homestead, stabbed numerous times with her slit. Motive unknown.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. South Africans are quite stressed out. If you see one stressing, don’t fuck it. Just step away from it s.l.o.w.l.y. An argument in Flash Road Bar, Kempton Park, between a 50-year old and a 35-year old regarding the issue of smoking ended rather abruptly when the one put a bullet in the other’s brain. A rather shaken female eyewitness, who had just arrived the roadhouse next to the pub (described as a small place where people could eat, drink and smoke), saw the 2 men fighting. The big guy (the 50-year old) slapped the little guy (the 35-year old) and then climbed into his bakkie (South African word for a small pick-up truck). The little guy’s girlfriend was trying to get him back into the pub, but he wouldn’t have any of it. The big guy stuck his head out of his bakkie and said “Wat se(170)ª jy? Jy gaan my doodmaak? Ek gaan jou doodmaak.” (What do you say? You’re going to kill me? I’m going to kill you.) Whereupon…he got out of his bakkie, walked over to the little guy, and offed him.

All over a cigarette.

The Sorry Bastard Award winners this week are 3 honchos who somehow managed to get a crown in Brokhorstspruit to go on the rampage, injuring a police officer and trashing 3 police vehicles… Police spokesperson Inspector Percy Morokane said it happened after a community meeting attended by approximately 500 people in the town hall at 8pm last night. Nobody’s sure how it started, but apparently, the town isn’t that crazy about moving district from Gauteng to Mpumalanga. In any event, 3 men, aged 24, 38 and 44, are appearing in court over this bullshit tomorrow, on charges of attempted murder, malicious damage to property and public violence.

I have more, but am hanging onto it for the next edition. Rest assured, it’s cold-blooded.
