S.Africa: 21 held for pension fraud

Ulundi – Twenty-one people will appear in the Nongoma magistrate’s court in Ulundi on Thursday in connection with pension fraud. Police spokesperson Vusi Mbatha said in a statement that the suspects were arrested on Thursday morning and found to be in possession of false identity documents as well as KwaZulu-Natal citizen cards. Pensioners insert these cards into a machine in order to receive their pension. They were attempting to use these to defraud the Siqokolweni pension payout point in the Nongoma district of between R17 180 and R18 420 each. Police also confiscated five cars used by the suspects.
