Cape Town – About 400 bus passengers are stranded on the snowbound Kingscote Pass between Underberg and Swartberg in southern KwaZulu-Natal, SABC reported. Four buses, two trucks and two bakkies are trapped in the snow on the R617 road. Dawn Bridger for police said an area of over 500 square kilometres was covered with snow in the southern Drakensberg, and it was still snowing. Authorities didn’t expect to reopen the road before 15:00. Large parts of the Drakensberg in southern KwaZulu-Natal were covered in snow, forcing temperatures down. Lee-Anne Clarke for the SA Weather Services, said in places like Van Reenen and Ladysmith, temperatures had not risen above five or six degrees. Edited by Tisha Steyn Source: News24.Com |
