Egyptian man jailed for stabbing American and Norwegian tourists

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

Egyptian man jailed for stabbing American and Norwegian tourists

[Some of that anti-Western hate spilling over… Jan]

CAIRO: A Cairo court sentenced an Egyptian man to 10 years in jail yesterday for stabbing and wounding two tourists, an Australian and a Norwegian, in revenge for the US-led invasion of Iraq and other attacks on Muslim countries.

The man, Hussein Ahmed Sayyed, attacked the men as they were strolling in Cairo’s old city one evening in February.

He told the court he acted out of anger at “Western aggression”.

The attack was a very rare example of anti-Western violence in Egypt, where militant Islamists have not targeted the tourism industry since 1997.

After a bad period in the 1990s, Egypt has been an island of tranquillity in a turbulent region.

Egyptian authorities identified the victims of the February 8 attack as Australian John Purcell, a 45-year-old doctor, and Norwegian Eved Dahli, a 41-year-old engineer. Purcell’s wife Lena, who is Dahli’s sister, was with them but was not hurt.

Sayyed was convicted on charges of attempted murder and illegal possession of a revolver.

Activist burns herself
ANKARA: A young Turkish woman who was jailed on charges of aiding an underground political group burned herself to death in a protest against prison conditions, human rights activists and a daily newspaper said yesterday.

The Cumhuriyet newspaper said Selma Kubat, 26, killed herself on Saturday – on Labour Day – in a prison in the northwestern town of Gebze.

The Turkish human rights association confirmed the report.

The association said Kubat, who was the editor of a newspaper called Revolutionary Youth.

She was arrested in 2001 and later sentenced for aiding an underground group.

Prior to her arrest, and since 2000, she had been among a group of militants carrying out hunger strikes to protest conditions for political detainees in Turkish prisons.

A total of 66 people died in the hunger strikes, aimed at protesting over the moving of political prisoners to new facilities in which they were kept isolated from one another.
