South Africans launch ‘peace’ radio in Israel – A CIA Project?

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

[My money is on the fact that this is a CIA project to put the guilt moves on the Israeli Jews – like they did here in S.Africa. My advice to the Israeli Jews is to ignore this rubbish… just keep on oiling that military rifle of yours!! Jan]

A new radio station targeting both Israeli and Palestinians will take to the airwaves this week based on a format that pioneered debate in apartheid-era South Africa.

From Wednesday, 93.6 RAM FM will broadcast 20 independent news bulletins a day from studios in Jerusalem and the West Bank to a target audience of half a million English-speakers.

Investors and managers hope its medley of Western pop, talk shows and phone-ins will allow Israelis and Palestinians to bridge a divide of distrust and promote dialogue.

“I see an opportunity for us to make a contribution … Getting Israelis and Palestinians to talk to each other is one bridge. Getting them to listen to the same music is another bridge,” executive director Issie Kirsh said.

“It is based on the experience I had in South Africa when South Africa transformed from [an] apartheid regime to democracy. We created a platform for listeners from all sides of the political spectrum to debate. We played an important part in that region, for peace in South Africa,” he added.

RAM FM promotes itself as an independent news provider, divorced from funding of any government or non-governmental organisation.

The name has dual significance as an abbreviation of Ramallah, where the station is headquartered and licensed by the Palestinian Authority, and also means high or lofty in Hebrew, according to Kirsh.

News director Andrew Bolton, who has moved from South Africa to Ramallah, said news coverage would be independent, accurate and use neither the terms “terrorist” or “martyr” evoked by Israeli and Palestinian media.

“Our music has created a bridge between the two people and we will utilise this to provide a platform for dialogue with talk shows, always maintaining a neutral position,” said station manager Maysoun Odeh-Gangat, a Palestinian. – Sapa-AFP
