I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

S.Africa: Robbers use "human shield"
Nelspruit – Two Mpumalanga farmers narrowly escaped injury this weekend when armed gangs attacked and robbed them in unrelated incidents.
In the most serious attack, two armed men used a domestic worker as a human shield to force their way into a farm office and steal the payroll for Naude’s Rus Farm’s entire workforce near Barberton on Friday evening.
“The attackers literally used the worker as a shield, only poking their guns around her, as they rushed into the offices. They obviously expected a firefight, but only the farmer’s wife was in the office at the time,” said police spokesperson, Captain Mtsholi Bhembe, on Monday.
The still unnamed 49-year-old farmer’s wife was armed, but immediately told the men not to hurt anyone, but just take the money.
“The attackers took anything else of value they could find, including a cellphone, safe keys, and two 9mm pistols,” said Captain Bhembe.
The robbers locked the woman and the domestic worker into the office and fled on foot. Police are still searching the area, but have refused to release the amount of money stolen, or names of the victims, to prevent any victimisation.
Locked up
White River farmer Willem Bezuidenhout is meanwhile installing additional security at this farm after his family was ambushed by two armed men on Friday morning.
“The men pounced as Bezuidenhout was closing his farm gate on Friday morning, overpowering him and marching him to the farmhouse at gun-point,” said Bhembe.
“The attackers gathered Bezuidenhout’s terrified wife and two young children, threatened to shoot them if there was any resistance, and then plundered the house.”
The attackers locked the unharmed family into a windowless room before fleeing on foot with electrical appliances, clothes, cash, and jewellery.
Bezuidenhout alerted police and neighbours when he managed to break out of the room shortly afterwards, but the robbers had already left the area.
Police are appealing for community assistance in both cases, stressing that insecurity on farms often creates unnecessary tensions that ultimately result in large-scale job losses when farmers eventually sell their land and move to ‘safer’ homes in cities.
The two attacks bring to nine the number of serious crime incidents reported on farms in Mpumalanga since January 01.
