S.Africa – Shaken motorist tells of highway terror

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

S.Africa – Shaken motorist tells of highway terror

[A large rock thrown off a bridge on to a car below tore a huge hole through the roof and killed an Indian woman some time back. This is a horrific new tactic. Jan]

Yet another motorist on the N2 freeway has came under attack by stone-throwers, this time being targeted from a bridge near the Nyanga and Cape Town International Airport offramp.

About 8pm on Sunday, Green Point glass artist Tom van Hoven and his partner, Barry Kantor, were on their way to Cape Town from Betty’s Bay when a man standing on the bridge hurled a rock at their car, hitting the windscreen and roof on the driver’s side. The men were not injured.

After a spate of violent incidents, including robberies, on the N2 last year, police warned people driving towards Cape Town near the Nyanga and airport turn-off to be on the lookout.

Large chunks of concrete, aimed at motorists travelling towards the city, were being dropped from the bridge.

Said Van Hoven: “We had driven past the airport turn-off when a rock half the size of a football hit the windscreen. I was driving at 120km/h. We both got an enormous fright and knew immediately it was a rock. Then we saw a figure on the bridge.”

Badly shaken, the two men did not stop their 4×4, but continued driving and reported the incident to traffic officers who were parked beside the highway. They later reported it to the police.

Van Hoven said that if the rock had hit the windscreen a few centimetres lower, he would have been seriously injured and the windscreen would have been shattered.

“We consider ourselves lucky. Other people have been killed on that road because of rocks being thrown through their windscreens,” he said.

Last year, passenger Muriel Groenewald, from Wynberg, died when a brick thrown through her window hit her in the face.

In December, Somerset West couple Mike and Merle Borgstrom narrowly escaped serious injury when three heavy objects were hurled at their new Volkswagen Jetta.

In another incident late last year a heavy concrete slab was placed in the middle of the road, causing an accident.

Police spokesperson Elna de Beer said there had been increased patrols along the N2 and a few weeks had passed without a single stone-throwing incident.

“We have had no reports in the past few weeks about stone throwings on the N2. It is important for people to report any incident to the police so that we can pinpoint the dangerous areas.

“We now have more patrols along the N2 after receiving 10 new vehicles intended for highway patrol. The Toyota Run-Xs and the Opel Corsas we now have are much faster.”
