WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

HIV/Aids Cases Rising Fast in Nigeria

[Note. 5% infection? What a joke. Jan]

CHAIRMAN of the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency, (LASACA) Dr. Aderemi Desalu has said that the figure of 5.8 per cent adult HIV prevalence rate attributed to Nigeria is gross underestimation of true situation of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the country.

The situation according to him, is capable of sparking like a burning fire if more political commitment and right multi-sectoral approach is not committed to the fight against the epidemic.

Desalu noted that the 5.8 per cent prevalence may be conservative as it is slightly above the 5 per cent figure, a state at which it could explode, adding that it has already gathered what he described as ‘gun powder’ to ignite more effect.

The chairman who spoke in a television programme in Lagos, said looking at the figure and the population of the country, it is a delicate and dangerous issue to handle.

His words: “When an epidemic reaches 5 per cent, people get more worried because of the potentials to spark like burning fire. Another reason why people get worried is that 5.8 per cent is very delicate and dangerous stage because once an epidemic hits 5 per cent it could be blown out of proportion.”

Continuing, he stressed the need for a collective approach, saying that if commitment is ensured in every home HIV/AIDS will no longer be a disease people talk about in hushed tones.

He cited example with Senegal that was under 2 per cent since 1986 when the disease was first discovered because of the early political commitment and establishment of multi-sectoral approach to the epidemic.

Most Lagosians remain adamant

Dr. Desalu who further stressed the need for general understanding to change behaviour, disclosed that a study carried out in Lagos State showed that 90 per cent of Lagosians knew about HIV/AIDS while over 60 per cent have not changed their behaviour even though they have heard it for many years.

“This is a war every body must play a part. It requires civic responsibility. It is not only for the government. People should know that once a person is infected in the family it will naturally affect every member of the family. This alone should discourage us to change our attitude towards this fight against the epidemic,” he said.

Stating that the country would witness increase in the number of people positive to the disease, he posited that Nigeria was currently in infective stage even though lots of efforts have been made because a lot of people have been infected in the last 10 years.
