S.Africa: Man decapitated by train
[Note. Yesterday and old black woman was killed crossing the highway. Its amazing what black pedestrians in SA get up to. I think it is said we have the most number of pedestrians killed in the world – mainly because they do stupid things like crossing the highway which is not only illegal but highly dangerous. Jan]
Johannesburg police are still trying to identify the body of a middle-aged man who was decapitated by a speeding train early this morning in Phola Park, on the East Rand.
Police spokesman Superintendent Andy Pieke said the body had been severely mutilated by the collision which left the head 100 meters from the body.
“We are also still looking for the driver of the train, who failed to stop after the accident. We believe he may not even be aware of the accident.”
There are no known witnesses to the death, which is thought to have occurred at least an hour before the body was found at 7.30am.
Pieke said an inquest docket had been opened to determine if any person can be held responsible for the death.
