S.Africa: "Collect your ID book if you want to vote"

WARNING: This is Version 1 of my old archive, so Photos will NOT work and many links will NOT work. But you can find articles by searching on the Titles. There is a lot of information in this archive. Use the SEARCH BAR at the top right. Prior to December 2012; I was a pro-Christian type of Conservative. I was unaware of the mass of Jewish lies in history, especially the lies regarding WW2 and Hitler. So in here you will find pro-Jewish and pro-Israel material. I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

S.Africa: "Collect your ID book if you want to vote"

[Note. One needs a valid ID book in order to vote. I’m not going to bother voting. My first and last vote I ever cast in my life, was in 1994. I only did it because back then, lots of whites were saying: Vote for anyone except the ANC just so as to show where one really stands. The same is true now, but really, I’ve got better things to do than waste my time voting – and a lot of whites feel the same way. Regard it as a “protest vote!” Jan]

The department of home affairs on Thursday urged South Africans who applied for identity documents (IDs) over two months ago to collect them ahead of the voter registration weekend on January 24 and 25.

Spokesperson Nkosana Sibuyi said countrywide they have an estimated 150,000 uncollected IDs.

At the beginning of 2003 the department committed itself to dispatching 2,5-million IDs during the next financial year. Since then the department has issued 2 660 859 IDs, said Sibuyi.

This compared to a figure of 1,6-million over the same period in 2002.

Sibuyi said the increase could be attributed to the partnership between the department and civil society, councillors, traditional leaders, the Post Office and other stakeholders.

He said the use of mobile units which reduced costs and were easily accessible to applicants, also helped.

“All South Africans who are 18 years and above should have bar-coded identity documents to enable them to register and vote,” he said.

“People who are applying for their IDs for the first time are advised to bring along their birth certificates, or a certificate issued at the hospital where one was born or any document to support that one is a South African citizen.” – Sapa

For information, the department has set up a tollfree number, 0800 10 1994, which is open from Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 4.30pm.
