I was definitely WRONG about the Boeremag and Janusz Walus. They were for real.

SA: Robber dies as police foil freeway cash robbery
[Note. Violent Cash-in-Transit heists are so common in SA these days that they set up a special court just for them. It opened with 150 such cases already lined up. These violent Bonny-and-Clyde style shoot-ups occur so often they don’t even make the news any more. Jan]
A robber was shot dead and another critically wounded in a bloody shootout with police during an attempted cash-in-transit heist.
The attempted heist took place shortly after 6am this morning on the R28 between Krugersdorp and Randfontein.
West Rand Police spokesperson Captain Yolande Bouwer said members of the Crime Intelligence Unit acted on a tipoff that a Fidelity van was going to be robbed.
She said seven men driving three vehicles – two Toyota Corollas and a BMW – attempted to stop the cash van. Police who were lying in the bushes along the road noticed the BMW and fired shots at it, wounding one and killing the other.
Bouwer said the BMW was probably going to be used to ram the Fidelity van.
She said if it had not been for the close co-operation between the police and Fidelity personnel, the police would not have succeeded in foiling the heist.
“We knew exactly what we were looking for,” said Bouwer.
Five suspects were arrested on the scene. Another suspect was taken to a local hospital under police guard.
The cash van was on its way to Randfontein when the would-be robbers tried to stop it. One firearm was confiscated.
Bouwer said morning rush hour traffic was brought to a standstill as one of the two lanes had to be closed.
