I wanted to re-establish contact with a woman I had worked with years ago and we had been very close friends at the time. So another friend of mine found her and got in touch with her recently.
When I emailed her, she never responded. So I emailed her again. This was our exchange:-
Hi xxxx
This is going to be my last attempt to contact you. If you have a
problem with anything I have done then say it.
I genuinely wanted to chat to you and was amazed when yyyy got your
details. But if you do not wish to speak then that’s your perogative and

Her response:-
I work at xxxx. Are you aware of the fact that you are being watched?
I dare not talk to you.
I replied to her saying that I know I’ve been watched for years. In fact, last night I was having dinner with a friend from America at a restaurant. When we were sitting there last night I remarked to the guy that this is the very place I had met the American Military Attache in some years ago when I was being harrassed.
We had a fascinating chat.
But I am well aware of my status, and friends in different countries have told me interesting things. One friend of mine in another African country is connected to various people there and he told me once what was known about me, how I was being watched and what I was classified as in official circles in the First World.
So yeah… I am well aware that I’m being watched all the time… by many people.
