[I’ve not mentioned that some weeks ago, former President FW De Klerk was in hospital for quite a while to have cancer removed from his colon. He was in a bad way, and was in intensive care for a while. He is now out of the hospital but will need quite a while to recover.

My mother who is no doctor or nurse, but who often just talks from the sheer experience of her 84 years, always reminds me that certain types of cancer “wake up” when people are operated upon. There are some types of cancer, which spread all throughout the body, and then later you can’t operate on it, and it kills you.

To my non-biological mind, it would seem that perhaps when they discover a lot of cancer in one place, which they need to cut out… that perhaps small bits of cancer have already spread far and wide throughout the body, and the identifiable chunk which they cut out is by no means everything. There is lots of “hidden cancer”, too small and undetectable to see… which will in a few years grow into a serious problem.

Some years ago, one friend of my mother’s was discovered to have cancer in his back. They operated. He went for chemotherapy. He seemed to be pretty ok. At times he seemed quite lively. He was very determined and positive. But 5 years later he was finished. The cancer which everyone thought was under control and had disappeared suddenly appeared with a vengeance and he died soon.

Anyhow, my Mom thinks FW De Klerk doesn’t have long to live.

There is a comment that immediately sprung into my mind which I would *LOVE* to make… but I won’t. I will not say what I’m thinking, and I won’t even dare hint at it. But one day, when the time is right, I’ll say it, and I’ll give people real food for thought – for their souls. Jan]
